Hawaii Adventures | Tubing Down Lihue Plantation

Welcome back to my blog! Today I wanted to share more about my family’s Hawaii vacation that we took last year. One of the best things that we did in Kauai was tubing down the former Lihue Plantation water system. It all started with a video that went viral of the Kauai Backcountry Adventures tubing excursion that we found on Facebook. Luckily, my mom thought it looked fun enough and bought us all tickets to go.

Like I mentioned, we went with this tourist company called Kauai Backcountry Adventures. The whole group met at the Kauai Backcountry Adventures offices / store / warehouse where we filled out a waiver and got the gear to go tubing. We then jumped in a van with a few other people and drove to the Lihue Plantation. The tour guides were all super friendly and nice. On the drive to the plantation, they just asked a bunch of questions of where we are from and our names and stuff. My dad is so funny, he was wearing a shirt with his name on the back (Alan) but he still told the tour guide his name was like Bobby or something.

Right when we got to the plantation, the guides gave a little history of the plantation and showed us some plants and bamboo that was nearby. We then had to walk down a few steps and scoot into the tubes!

Going down the “water system” was a lot of fun! It was pretty bumpy and rough in some areas but most of all it was pretty smooth and an easy venture. As you go down, there is a tunnel that you pass through which was pretty cool.

At the end of the water system, there was a cute park area with some benches and that is where we all camped out and ate lunch! Kauai Backcountry Adventures provided sandwiches, chips, cookies, just the normal picnic lunch. It was nice to have a snack after the tubing though.

Overall, it was just a fun activity and it was so nice to do it with my whole family! We just had a great time being with each other, bouncing down the Lihue Plantation! Thanks again Momma for the once in a lifetime experience!
