Hi Friends!
I am so excited to bring you another eyeshadow palette review this week! I was completely sucked into the hype of the ColourPop x Kathleen Lights Zodiac Collection eyeshadow palette. I really wanted to pick up the PR package but they were sold out when I initially went to the site and then suddenly were back in stock but it was too late. I actually picked up another bundle that they were offering with the Zodiac palette and the Dream Street palette together. (Keep a look out for a Dream Street palette review soon!)
What mainly sucked me into this palette was the packaging!! The packaging on this palette is SO incredibly well done. There is so much detail that went into just the outside of the palette that I really appreciate. I don’t really watch Kathleen Lights on YouTube too much – I didn’t buy this palette to support her or anything. All I care about is the palette. I did watch her intro to the Zodiac collection and was really excited just by the way she described why things were the way they were. You could tell there was a lot of thought put in.
The uni-carton is completely black with gold zodiac symbols stamped all across it. They are the same zodiac symbols on the actual palette however the actual palette is a dark blue. Honestly, it is one of the most beautiful palettes (packaging wise) that I have seen. I love that Aquarius is right on front center of the palette (I am Aquarius) and I like that the names of the shades are both on the back and on the inside of the palette.
This palette retails for $18 by itself and it does come with 12 shades and a full mirror. The shades include 5 matte and 7 shimmery / metallic finishes. Lets jump into the shades and swatches.
In the first row, you have:
Aries – This is a bright orange metallic shade. This absolutely reminds me of the hot sauce packets from Taco Bell. It’s a really beautiful shade but I am kind of sick of orange shades right now.
Taurus – This is a matte tan brown shade. It is pretty basic, similar to Incense from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina palette.
Gemini – This is bright honey gold metallic shade. It is really beautiful and feels so soft to the touch!
Cancer – This is a very soft icy pink shimmer shade. It is a very nice and subtle inner corner highlight.
In the second row, you have:
Leo – This is a golden soft orange shimmer shade. It’s a really beautiful shade as well.
Virgo – This is a dark brown matte shade. It is pretty basic. Good to deepen up an eye look but I don’t see myself using it that often.
Libra – This is a really pretty dusty rose matte shade. This is pretty much the only shade that you can set your base with and start the initial transition. I like it a lot though.
Scorpio – This is a bright plum metallic shade. It reminds me a lot of Quirky from the Laura Lee Los Angeles Cat’s Pajamas palette. It is one of the stand out shades from this palette.
In the third row, you have:
Sagittarius – I honestly don’t even know where to begin with this shade. This is the ABSOLUTELY WORST eyeshadow that I have ever swatched. It honestly swatched like shit. I was honestly in disbelief. I hit hard pan after the first time swatching it. It just is absolutely horrible. I did use it on my eye and it is so patchy, its slightly better with a brush than your finger but overall its horrible. (I built it up A LOT in the swatch below).
Capricorn – This is actually a pretty cool shade! It is a black matte (ish) shade with little specs of micro glitter in it. It looks like a starry night. I don’t know how much use I will get out of it, but is pretty unique!
Aquarius – This is a pretty periwinkle blue matte shade. I think it is my favorite shade in the palette and not just because I am an Aquarius.
Pisces – This is probably the most unique shade in the palette – it is a beautiful vibrant metallic aqua shade.
Overall, this palette is pretty nice. I don’t think you need to rush out and buy it unless you are in love with these shades and don’t have anything else like it. I think there is a serious quality issue with Sagittarius but other than that everything else is pretty nice! I definitely love the packaging! ColourPop and Kathleen Lights did a good job!
Let me know down below what you think of this palette, are you going to pick it up or pass it up? I would love to know!
Great review! Glad it’s not just my Sagittarius that swatches like that!! I was so disappointed by that when it seemed like all of the videos of people using it made it look so creamy. 😦

I know – I was just looking up some other reviews that those look fine so it must be a consistency issue. But I am glad I am not the only one too. 😦 Thanks for coming back to check out my post. 🙂

This review was so damn helpful! I was eyeing off this palette for ages and held off because I wanted it more for the packaging than the shades 😂 But HOLY HELL Sagittarius is awful?? And Colourpop are usually so good?? Very disappointed there but I’m so glad you mentioned it. Awesome review and such good swatches too! (Also I’m an Aquarius too hehe! Love that our sign is in the middle of the palette packaging because it’s alsl Kathleen’s sign haha!)

THANK YOU, you’re so sweet!! The packaging of this palette is to die for but yeah, the quality wasn’t the best. I LOVE all my other ColourPop palettes though so I am not sure what happened with this one. After I wrote this, I saw a couple of other people having the same issues with Sagittarius so it wasn’t just me. YAY Aquarius!!
