Morphe x Jaclyn Hill: Ring the Alarm Palette Review and Swatches!

Hi Friends!

Today I wanted to review the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Ring the Alarm palette! This is one of the four palettes that Morphe and Jaclyn Hill released as part of the Vault collection. This one is definitely the most Jaclyn Hill palette because of the deep warm shades. She is known for her warm smokey eyes so if you are trying to be Jaclyn Hill, this palette will probably be the best one!

I did an overview of four palettes (and the drama) in The Vault but if you didn’t read that post, here are the details that you need to know. This palette is available at Morphe.com or at Ulta. It does retail for $15 and comes with 10 shades and a mirror!

Out of the 10 shades, 5 of them are matte and 5 of them are shimmery. Lets talk about each one!

In the first row, you have:

Lolli – This is a beautiful pink shimmery shade. It really is a beautiful all over the lid shade. I think it is really girly and pretty. It feels so nice to swatch and it picks up on a brush pretty well.

Rush – This is a burnt orange matte shade. I think this is a good transition shade. It is the lightest shade in the palette so it is the most natural transition shade. I do wish there was a shade slightly lighter than this one but it is a nice shade nonetheless.

On Camera – This is golden shimmer shade. Golds are super in right now so I do think it is a nice addition to this palette. It does go over the mattes really well.

Boom – This is one of my favorite shades in the palette. This is a burnt copper shimmer shade. It honestly feels so soft when I swatched it. It reminded me of a Anastasia Beverly Hills shimmer. I really like this one.

Alert – This is a slightly darker orange matte shade than Rush. It honestly is too similar to Rush in my opinion. I don’t know why both were included in this palette. I will never go through this much orange shadow in my life. There was definitely room for another shade.

In the second row, you have:

Bomb Ass – This is a BRIGHT cranberry shimmer shade. Again, it feels really nice to swatch out. I am not the biggest fan of this color on my eyelids, at least not all over the lid but I do think it a beautiful color over all.

Siren – This is a hard shadow to describe because it has a lot of glitter in it but it comes across almost matte (but not quite). The color is a chocolatey brown. I know a lot of people don’t like glitter in their shadows so just beware!

Mugshot – This is a milk chocolate matte shade. This is another decent transition shade but can also be used as an all over the lid shade. It really is a beautiful matte but pretty basic too.

Framed – This is another chocolate brown matte shade. It doesn’t have any glitter in it but itdoes seem too similar to Siren.

Secret – This is a dark brown shade. I want to describe it as chocolate too but it is a little darker than Framed and Siren. This one isn’t the best matte in the palette, but it does go on the eyelid well.

I mentioned in my review of the Dark Magic palette that I think the Dark Magic has the best “theme”. It definitely is the most consistent. I don’t understand the “theme” of Ring the Alarm 100%. I mean, I definitely get the shade range but the names don’t really correlate with anything.

If you DON’T have a warm tone palette in your collection already than this palette might be good for you. I think it is a decent palette, the shadows all perform pretty well but I don’t think this is a palette that you need to rush out and get. As I mentioned in my shade descriptions, I don’t think there is enough variation in the shades. Some of them are a little too similar.

I know a lot of people are having quality issues with these palettes, that is really not my problem. I think for a $15 palette, this is performing on par. If you want these shades, this is a pretty good palette!

Let me know down below what you think of this palette! Do you like the shades or are you totally not into this collection at all? I would LOVE to know!
