Hi Friends!
So I bought the Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Powder awhile with the intention to write a review right away but for some reason I am just getting around to it. This setting powder had a lot of controversy when it first released. Many people thought Huda Beauty was ripping off the brand Beauty Bakerie which also has a “baking power”. They conceived the idea of doing a play on words with the baking / powder / flour which is totally adorable!
But without getting too much into the drama, I bought the Easy Bake powder and have been using it for awhile so I want to share my thoughts.
Firstly, this powder does retail for $34 and comes in 8 different shades! I think that is an incredible shade range for a powder. I feel like normally brands have 1 or 2 options but Huda Beauty definitely brought it with the shade range. I have the shade “Sugar Cookie” which is the lightest shade in the range. I really wanted something that would brighten my under eyes and anywhere else that I wanted to set. Sugar Cookie is described as “for fair to tan skin tones. Neutral undertones for ultra-brightening.”
Huda Beauty claims that this powder will keep makeup in place, absorb shine, as well as not have any flashback. I personally don’t worry about flashback too much because I don’t have a any paparazzi taking flash pictures of me but I guess that is a good option just in case!
The packaging of this powder is adorable! It I really like the way the outer box opens to reveal the powder container. Both the inside of the outside packaging and the back of the powder box have instructions to baking.
- Dip dense brush or beauty sponge into powder net. Pack a generous layer under the eye from corners through temples, t-zone, outer corners of the mouth and chin.
- Let powder bake for 3 to 5 minutes while applying the rest of your makeup.
- Using a fluffy brush, gently dust away excess powder.
I think its interesting that they suggest dipping a brush or sponge into the powder net. Personally, I haven’t been able to get much product up that way. I usually tap the a bit of power into the lid. That just seems to work better for me.
As for the powder itself, I love the smell. It smells fresh not like just straight powder. I do like how it performs well. You only really need the tiniest bit to set your face. I have made the mistake a few times of applying too much and I started to look cakey. I usually don’t set my under eyes everyday because I do have creases and I feel like sometimes powder makes them more pronounces. The Easy Bake powder can look really nice with just a little bit pressed on.
I think it does extend the lifetime of my makeup but nothing out of this world. I also end up with a bit of mascara smeared under my eye and a few creases around my nose. But over all I think it is a good powder.
Although I like it and I am glad I tried it, I don’t think I would purchase it again. It is just a little too expensive for what it is. But if you really like Huda Beauty and you actually bake a lot and have the skin that needs to set then definitely check this powder out!
Well that is it for me today! Let me know down below what you think of this powder! Or even better, let me know what your favorite setting powder is! I would love to know!
