Hi Friends!
I really didn’t think I was going to buy this palette but as soon as it was on sale, I couldn’t help myself! Today, we are talking about the Urban Decay Backtalk eyeshadow and blush palette! This palette normally retails for $46 but I bought it for 50% off, so it was only $23! I wasn’t initially interested in this palette because it just seemed kind of expensive for what it was. And the reviews were up and down. I have heard so many good and so many bad things about this palette.
This palette comes with 2 blushes and 2 highlighters on one half. All of the blushes have a bit of glimmer / shine to them but we will talk about that a bit more later! On the other side of the palette there are 8 eyeshadows. Out of the 8 eyeshadows, there are 3 matte shades and 5 shimmery shades. Because there is so much to cover with just this palette, this will be a two part review!
Before we jump into the shade range and the quality, let’s talk about the packaging. So this palette was inspired by one of their bestselling / most loved lipsticks all Backtalk. I don’t own this lipstick but it is a pink, mauve shade. The whole palette has beautiful pink and mauve waves across it and then the writing is in a white glossy text.
So the packaging got a lot of flack because there are two sides to this palette and there is a mirror in the center that separates the two sides. The mirror is removable and a lot of people were frustrated that the palette only fully closes with the mirror inside in a certain way. I don’t really have a problem with that. I don’t find it difficult to close the palette. Overall, I really like the packaging. I think its unique and beautiful!
So let’s talk about the blushes and highlighter!
Cheap Shot – This is a deep mauve blush. It has a bit of glimmer in it like I mentioned above but it doesn’t appear that way on the cheeks. It is closer to a matte blush in my opinion. It is a really pretty blush. It is a little deep for my skin tone but I can still pull it off! It isn’t a blush that I would wear everyday but I do think its really nice!
Double Take – This is a slightly lighter pink blush! It also has a little bit of glitter in it but its not noticable on the cheeks. This is the prettiest blush in the palette in my opinion. This one is a lot more wearable on an everyday basis. It is definitely pigmented and noticeable on the cheeks but it gives a nice flush of color.
Low Key – This is a very sheer and light highlighter. You actually could use it as a blush topper or a highlighter. It has a lot of shimmer but it is still very pretty on the cheeks. I have used it more as a blush topper and it looked nice. I don’t think I will get a lot of use out of this one though.
Party Foul – This is a BEAUTIFUL highlighter. It is very shimmery taupe / champagne shade. I really like it! I think it is definitely a better highlighter for me than Low Key.
So far, this half of the palette is really nice! I think it is definitely worth $11.50 which is half of what I paid of this palette! Well that is where I am going to cut it off today! Part two will include the description and my thoughts of all the eyeshadows and the palette of as a whole!
I was thinking about picking this up when it was on sale but decided against it last minute because I felt I had similar shades in my collection. Nice review! Waiting for part 2.
