Hi Friends!
Today, I thought I would talk a bit more about my experience with Pan that Palette. This was my first year (2018) of trying to pan a palette and I think I definitely learned a lot. My version of Pan that Palette was just to hit pan on every shade in the palette. I know a lot of people can actually pan an entire palette, meaning use up the entire palette, which is CRAZY impressive!
I chose the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance this year because it was one of my favorite palettes and it had a good variety of shades. I like the mix of neutral shades and warm tones. It is definitely a palette that you can use everyday and still have enough variety to mix it up. But another reason why I chose this palette was because I heard it was relatively easy to hit pan on Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows.
Although, it probably was easy compared to other palettes to hit pan, it was ALSO really HARD! I used and abused this palette. Sometimes I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t hit pan yet!
Anyway, I wanted to compile my full year of progress so we could look at it all together! I did updates every 2 months, so each picture is 2 months of progress!
I started this project with no pan on any of the shades! I had used the palette a lot of times before starting this project but I am very light handed when doing my eyeshadow. I did have a slight dip in Tempera though.

My starting off point on the Anastasia Beverly Hills – Modern Renaissance!
In update #1, I hit pan in two shades (Tempura and Golden Ochre)! Tempera was very easy to hit pan on because I used it all over the lid. And Golden Ochre was an easy everyday transition shade.

Modern Renaissance – Update #1
For my 2nd update, I actually hit pan on four additional shades! They were Raw Sienna, Burnt Orange, Vermeer, and Buon Fresco. I was super motivated these couple of months because I made a lot of progress!

Modern Renaissance – Update #2
As I started to make my way to the right side of the palette, it started to get a bit harder. These were very pigmented shades that I didn’t need very much of to complete an eye look. For the 3rd update, I only hit pan on two more shades (Primavera and Love Letter).

Modern Renaissance – Update #3
This was where I started to lose my motivation a little bit because these shades were not ones that I would naturally reach for every day. I was somewhat forcing myself to use them just to get some progress.
In the 4th update, I really pushed myself and hit pan on 3 more shades (Venetian Red, Cyprus Umber, and Realgar). This was an AMAZING update because these were really hard shades to hit pan on! I was actually really close to Venetian Red after my 3rd update so it didn’t take too long to hit pan on that one. Realgar was SO hard though. That was one of the shades that I couldn’t believe how many uses it took me.

Modern Renaissance – Update #4
And finally, my 5th and last update, I hit pan on the remaining 3 shades! They were Red Ochre, Antique Bronze, and Warm Taupe! There shadows were actually pretty easy to use together so it didn’t take as long to hit pan on all three of them. I was really pushing myself because I was excited to finish this project up.

Modern Renaissance – Update #5
Overall, I am really happy that I did this challenge this year! I don’t know yet if I am going to do another Pan that Palette next year but this one was really interesting. I liked seeing my progress every couple of months! It has been a really satisfying project but at the same time I felt like I was missing out on using all of my other palettes. Luckily, I still love using the Modern Renaissance – its still a beautiful palette! I am glad I got this much use out of it too!
Should I do another Pan that Palette challenge again in 2019?? I would love to know your thoughts! Also, let me know if you are doing a pan that palette challenge, I would love to check it out!
Check out my update posts for this project here!
What a super fun post! I should totally be doing that with some of my palettes as well because I keep picking up more beauties 🙂

Yeah! It’s been an interesting challenge for sure. I would recommend giving it a shot but don’t be too restrictive on yourself. 🙂

Amazing to see your progress throughout the year! I’m debating on doing another Pan that Palette next year, too. So far, I’m undecided since I’ve neglected so many other palettes this year to make progress with my ABH Master by Mario Palette.

I know, those are my thoughts too! I might to a small Pan that Palette challenge but I haven’t decided yet. Plus I just bought a ton of new palettes and all I want to do is use them!
