Hi Friends!
Today, we are talking about the new Too Faced Gingerbread Spice eyeshadow palette! I have mentioned this several times on my blog, but Too Faced is one of my favorite brands. So of course I wanted to pick up something from their holiday collection! This is literally one of the cutest palettes that I have ever seen! I think Too Faced is so clever when it comes to packaging, and season releases. And the Gingerbread Spice palette is the perfect holiday release!
This palette retails for $49 and it comes with 18 eyeshadows! Out of the 18 shadows, 8 are a matte finish and 10 have a shimmery finish. If you are familiar with Too Faced’s chocolate bar palettes then this one is pretty similar except it doesn’t have the 2 larger pans in the top left and bottom right.
This is a quote from the back of the palette: “Add a little spice to your life with this deliciously sweet gingerbread palette of 18 multi-finish warm and toasty shadows that glide on with buttery smoothness for playful pops of color that smell like fresh baked gingerbread.”
This palette does have a nice scent but I don’t think it is gingerbread – I think it is more vanilla than anything. It is pretty subtle but nice! I know a lot of people don’t like scented makeup but I like it! Especially with Too Faced palettes.
The Packaging
The packaging for this palette is EVERYTHING! Literally the cutest palette I have ever seen. The entire thing is this gingerbread red/brown color with little white frosting surrounding the edges. There is also a little gingerbread man on the front and on the inside of the palette on the mirror. He reminds me of Gingey from Shrek!
Beyond this palette just being adorable, it is also really practical. I like that they stuck with the Chocolate Bar palette shape so it is easy to store with my other palettes. It also has a magnetic clasp which I always love. I LOVE everything about the packaging for this palette. It is literally ADORABLE.
The Shades & Swatches
In the first row, you have:
Powdered Sugar – This is the normal matte cream shade that is great in every palette! I use this shade to set my eyelid primer. This shade already sets this palette off to a good start. It’s a really nice matte cream shade.
Spiked Eggnog – This is a champagne shimmery shade. This has been my go to lid shade in this palette. I think it is one of the more wearable shimmery shades on an everyday basis. Its REALLY pretty!
Gumdrop – This is definitely the eye catching shade of the palette. It is a matte bright pink shadow. This is one of those shades that you can build up to its full pigmentation but it doesn’t initially go on that way. It can also be fairly subtle. Very beautiful nonetheless.
Gingerbread – This is a warm matte brown shade. This is a great transition shade or as an all over the lid shade for an all matte look. Its really the perfect brown!
Warm & Toasty – This is a yellow gold shimmery shade. I personally don’t like gold eyeshadow too much but it is still a really pretty shade. You can tell that it has a lot of pigment. If you like gold shades like this, then you will definitely like Warm & Toasty!
OOO Burn! – And the last one in the row, is this shimmery dark purple shadow. This one doesn’t come across super shimmery on the eyelids but it does have a little bit of a glimmer. I like this one but I don’t see myself wearing it all the time. Although it did look good with Gumdrop.
In the second row, you have:
Frostbite Me! – This is an icy white shimmer shade. It reminds me a lot of Peach Ice from the White Peach palette from Too Faced. It definitely is a good shade for an inner corner or a brow bone highlight.
Lookie At My Cookie – This is a soft pink matte shadow. This is a nice transition shade for the other darker shades in the palette. It is a pretty light shade. I don’t think they needed this shadow and Sugar Daddy (which is in the next row though).
Spice Is Nice – This is the spicy orange matte shade. This shade is also really attractive when looking at the palette. It is a really beautiful orange shade. It is another shade that can be really easily built up but doesn’t come across SUPER pigmented initially. Which is perfect.
Oh Snap! – This is one of those “matte” shades that has glitter in it. I did count it as a shimmery shade because the glitter seems more noticeable than other matte glitter shades. The color is a warm mid tone brown.
Bake It ‘Til You Make It – This shade is a really pretty red bronze shimmer shade. It reminds me a lot of the packaging for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry palette. It is a very deep shimmer shade so great for a romantic look.
Spice of Life – This is a green with gold fleck shimmer shade. I think this shade is really unique and I really like that they included it in this palette. It is very holiday-esk!
In the third row, you have:
Sugar Daddy – This is a very light matte pink shade. It is slightly lighter than Lookie At My Cookie but I don’t think you really need both in this palette. I think I like Lookie At My Cookie a little bit more just because Sugar Daddy blends into my skin tone. Lookie At My Cookie is a little bit more noticeable.
Figgy Pudding – This is a matte deep purple shade. I actually really like this shade. I didn’t know how much use I would get out of it because it is quite deep but I actually see myself reaching for it quite a bit. I like the color and how it blends on the eye.
Hot Toddy – This is a REALLY COOL unique shade. It is like a color shifting shade that looks different in certain lights. You can even see in my swatch that it looks slightly yellow and then it moves into a pink shade. ITS BEAUTIFUL! Easily one of my favorite shades in the palette.
Reindeer Paws – This is a matte chocolate brown shade. This is the darkest shade in the palette so I mainly use this to deepen up the outer corner.
Gingerbread Latte – This is a latte matte brown shade. It is more of a neutral brown than Gingerbread. I reach for this shade for my transition shade mostly. It’s really nice!
Spiced Rum – And lastly, Spiced Rum is a shimmery brown shade. I don’t like it as much as Spice of Life but it is still a really beautiful shade!
My Review
I LOVE this palette!! The formula is amazing! The shades are pigmented and blendable. I think it is an easy to use palette so it would be good for all skill sets. Like I mentioned in the introduction, it is the perfect holiday palette! I love the mix of colors from the pinks, purples, and oranges. You really can get a lot of different looks from just this one palette. I also like that there are a lot of neutral shades so this really can be an everyday palette. And then you can spice it up with more of the colorful shades.
I HIGHLY recommend this palette. It is obviously adorable but mostly, it just is a really nice go to palette! I know I will be reaching for it A LOT!
Let me know down below what your favorite holiday palette release as been! If you haven’t done any holiday shopping yet, what is your favorite palette in general?! I would LOVE to know!!
