Benefit Cosmetics: City Lights, Party Nights Review and Unboxing!

I bought this set awhile ago from Sephora and I am finally getting around to reviewing and unboxing all the items! This is the Benefit Cosmetics City Lights, Party Nights bundle. Benefit released these bundles every so often and they are usually a great deal! This set normally retails for $32 but I actually got it on sale, so it was only $22. But it has a $65 value which is awesome!

Benefit is so cute because all of their bundles are kind of San Francisco themed because that is where the brand is located. On the front of the box, you can see the San Francisco skyline and then they have the pictures of the items on the back. Its all just pretty cute! They also have a message that says “Sexy up & Party down with this bag of Benefit bestsellers for brows, cheeks, lips, and eyes!”

This set includes:

1. They’re Real Mascara
2. They’re Real Lipstick in Nude Scandal
3. Precisely, My Brow Pencil in shade 03 (full size)
4. Dandelion Twinkle Blush / highlighter
5. Small makeup bag

The Precisely, My Brow Pencil retails for $24 alone so I already got my money’s worth for that!

My Review

They’re Real! Mascara

I haven’t used this mini mascara from this set yet but I did use up a Benefit They’re Real! Mascara earlier this year, as a part of my 18 in 2018 project pan! I do really like this mascara – it is great for the lower lash line because of the round spoolie on the tip of the wand. And it gives good length and volume. However, I prefer the Benefit Roller Lash mascara over this one! The Roller Lash is incredible length which I prefer over everything else.

They’re Real Lipstick in Nude Scandal

This is an interesting lipstick! They call it “Double the Lip” because the lipstick itself is in the shape of a tear drop, and the lip is actually slightly darker than the base of the drop. This is to add a liner affect to your lipstick. I was a little intimidated to use this lipstick at first. I am not the best with liner and I didn’t want to overfill my lips and then lipstick everywhere. However, it was actually way easier than I thought! The liner was the perfect shade so it just adds a bit of definition to your lips and I really like the color of the lipstick.

The only thing that is a little awkward about this lipstick is lining the lower lip. When you hold it up to line your upper lip, the wand fits perfectly in your grip. It is a little strange to flip it upside down for the lower lip. But nothing too crazy – just thought that I would call that out.

Precisely, My Brow Pencil

I adore the packaging of this brow pencil! I think it is really cute and really functional. It is nice to have caps for both ends of the brow pencil, especially when they both clasp on. As for the brow pencil itself, it is really nice! It is so similar to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and other micro brow pencils. Although, I will use up this brow pencil, I don’t plan to re-purchase it. I really think the Maybelline Brow Precise Mirco Pencil is just as good and way more affordable! The Precisely, My Brow is a great color for my brows and is easy to use.

This set only comes with 1 color for the brow pencil so make sure it will work for you first! It is in the shade, 03 which is a dark brown.

Dandelion Twinkle Blush / Highlighter

Aren’t Benefit box blushes just so cute?! I actually picked up this set for this blush since it was one of the few Benefit blushes that I hadn’t used yet. This is a very subtle blush. It is a soft, peachy glowy blush. It does look pretty on the skin but I like more noticeable blushes. Luckily, I can kind of use it as a highlight too. It is a pretty powder but its not really noticeable on my cheeks.

Makeup Bag

Of course, I don’t want to forget about this small makeup bag! This is of course, included in the value of the set and I really do like it! I definitely didn’t need another makeup bag but this one is so cute! It is lavender, textured bag with a Benefit medallion on the front. The zipper also has a small medallion. The size is pretty good – I have bigger and smaller bags so this is middle of the line. I will definitely get some use out of this bag.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I think this set is great! It definitely is a great value and includes 5 great items. I don’t really have a complaint about anything. I DEFINITELY recommend it if you can catch it on sale. My favorite item is probably the Precisely, My Brow Pencil. But I am totally happy using the other items too!
