Hi Friends!
Today we are talking about the VERY expensive and VERY luxurious Pat McGrath Labs MTHRSHP Sublime Bronze Ambition palette! I never really imagined any Pat McGrath eyeshadow palettes but here we are! I picked this beauty up during their 25% off sale. The bronze ambition, La View en Rose, and Platinum Bronze eyeshadow palettes were in a bundle for $125 and then I got 25% off on top of that so I just couldn’t resist. This palette normally retails for $55 by itself!
So considering that the palette normally retails for $55, this is a pretty EXPENSIVE palette. And it only comes with 6 eyeshadow pans. I was really skeptical about spending that amount on so little diversity but I really wanted to see what the hype was about. This palette also comes with a large mirror, thanks goodness!
The Packaging
The packaging is SO UNIQUE! On the front of the palette there is actually a band that you have to unhook in order to open the palette. And then there are two flaps to the palette so it sort of opens like a book.
The artwork for this palette is also really unique and interesting. The front of this palette has a woman’s face with her makeup down. Here eyeshadow is a bright gold, she has blood red lipstick on and she also has a green hue for skin. There is also a gold bug planted on her lip / teeth. It is kind of alien-istic. At first, I wasn’t a fan of the artwork but it has grown on me. I think it is interesting and I like the way the colors go together.
On the inside of the palette, of course there are 6 shades and a large mirror. There is also a small sheet for the eyeshadow names. I would prefer that they were printed on the actual palette.
It isn’t my favorite type of packaging. I would prefer something flatter and easier to open / store on an everyday basis but the makeup collector in me, does really like it! I like that it is unique and beautiful!
The Shades and Swatches
This palette contains 1 matte shade and 5 shimmery / metallic shades. But let’s talk about each one!
In the first row, you have:
Gilt Trip – This is the lightest shimmer shade in the palette. It is a pink champagne gold shadow.
Bronze Struck – This is a bronzey brown shimmer with golden reflects.
Copperized – This is a copper orange shimmer shadow.
In the second row, you have:
Illicit – This is the darkest shade in the palette. This is not so much a metallic shade but a glittery shadow. It does have a shimmery affect but it is also wearable in the outer corner to deepen up your look.
Throwing Shade – This is the only matte shade out of the 6. It is a medium warm tone brown shadow.
Gold Rush – This is a shimmery gold shade.
My Review
I think this palette has some pros and cons. Don’t get me wrong – the shades are BEAUTIFUL!! I am very impressed with the quality. Throwing Shade (the matte shade) blends like a dream, it’s very pigmented and easy to incorporate in any look.
The metallic shades are beautiful as well. They work better with certain brushes, better than others but other all they are easy to apply and beautiful on the eyelids. I think some of the metallic shades are too similar. Like Gold Rush and Gilt Trip, although they are different, I don’t think this palette needs both. I really would have liked to see more selection and maybe another matte shade.
The shades are VERY pigmented and easy to use. They really doesn’t require a lot of effort to create a naturally pretty look. I have mainly been using Throwing Shade in my crease and in the outer corner and then one or two of the shimmery shades all over the eyelids.
Overall, I can’t say that this palette is worth $55. I think that is too expensive for 6 eyeshadow but I do think it is worth $30 which is about what I paid for it! If you can get it on a discount, then it is definitely worth it. This palette is very high quality. I am so far impressed with Pat McGrath!
Let me know down below if you have ever tried anything from Pat McGrath! What are your thoughts on her eyeshadow palettes? I would love to know!
They look gorgeous😻 I don’t think I could justify the price, but you got a real bargain! 💖

I completely understand!! I don’t think it is worth $55 at all. I wouldn’t not have bought this palette at this price. But your girl loves a good bargain!

Yeah, exactly. I mean the quality is great but you can only get so much from 6 pans.
