Too Faced: Rainbow Strobe Powder Highlighter Review!

I recently just posted my review of the Too Faced La Crème Mystical Effects Lipsticks and wanted to go ahead and review the Too Faced Rainbow Strobe powder highlighter which was part of the same collection. This highlighter initially retailed for $30 but is now on sale on TooFaced.com for $27!

I have also seen these highlighters at TJ MAXX / Marshalls (which is where I got mine) for only $12.99! So if you are interested after my review, definitely try to find it at one of those discount stores!

Too Faced claims this is an “all-over magic highlighter is the ultimate color strobe fantasy. For a true rainbow effect pick up product from left to right with a flat dense brush and apply in one single stroke; or swirl the colors together for an effortless prismatic effect. The formula is infused with rose quartz powder to add some love energy to your makeup and the fresh dreamy scent will leave you with an enchanting, ethereal festival vibe.”

The Packaging

The packaging is not my favorite. I mean, it is a cute compact. The main compact is a shiny baby blue color. The front of the compact is has a cloud and a rainbow surrounding the lid. And then there are little stars and a unicorn stick right in the center of the lid. I really don’t like the stickers, it just seems so cheap. And the entire compact is like a hard plastic.

The inside of the compact does have a small mirror and then the highlighter is made out up of 5 different colors, like a rainbow! Too Faced usually has AMAZING packaging so I know they could have made this collection a lot more classy instead of childish. Especially because this is still a really expensive product.

The powder also has a light scent to it. It kind of smells fruity but very faint compared to other Too Faced products. Not even noticeable unless you specifically try to smell it.

The Color / Swatch

So although you can use each line of the rainbow separately, I tend to use them altogether! When they are swatched / blended altogether, the color is like a soft yellow glittery shade. It is SO SO SO reflective and definitely not a subtle highlight.

I think the color is great, definitely a fun shade if you want to look extra glowy. It is also really glittery so you have to be careful when you apply. I definitely get glitter all over my face when I use this highlighter.

My Final Thoughts

There are a couple of things that I like about this highlighter and a couple of things that I don’t. I don’t love the packaging because of the stickers on the front. I also don’t think this highlighter is very wearable on an everyday basis. Not because of the color, but because of all the glitter!

I think the glitter can look pretty sometimes but it isn’t always the look I am going for. I think the highlighter is actually really pretty, it makes your cheeks look SO wet.

I don’t think this highlighter is worth $30. At least I would never get my money’s worth at that price. I am happy to have this in my collection though!
