Hi Friends!
If you have been following my blog for awhile then you might know that I struggle with acne on my face. I haven’t always but the past couple of years have been really bad. I am pretty much willing to do ANYHING to get rid of my acne and my acne scars. So when I see something like “blemish remedy” or “acne clearing treatment” – you have my attention!
If you haven’t figured it out yet, today we are talking about the BareMinerals Blemish Remedy Acne Clearing Treatment Serum. This serum retails for $42 but I think I bought it at TJ MAXX for $10.99 or something.
BareMinerals claims that this serum will “combat acne, soothe your skin and reduce the appearance of imperfections all at the same time with our powerful Blemish Remedy® Acne Clearing Treatment Serum. A blend of salicylic acid, licorice root extract, and meadowsweet extract treats existing breakouts, calms skin to reduce redness, refines your complexion’s texture, and reduces the look of pores. Plus, the addition of zinc helps prevent future breakouts by controlling excess oil.”
It sounds all good, right?! The formula is pretty lightweight so it is easy to use under your makeup or other skin care items in your routine. It has a watery texture but you can feel that it is heavier than water, like a serum.
I was dedicated to using this serum for months. I would use it morning and evening because I know that products like this can take awhile to show a difference. At this point, I have used up the entire bottle. So I can confidently say that this serum did nothing for my skin.
I read some reviews and some people were saying that this actually caused them to breakout. I don’t believe this negatively impacted my skin like that. I did experience breakouts the entire time while using this serum but I don’t believe it was related to using this. I just didn’t see anything positive from it either.
I was essentially just applying this as a wasted step. It sucks because I was really dedicated when I could have been using something that actually worked on my skin. I haven’t found my go-to acne clearing treatment yet but I definitely won’t be purchasing this again. Nor do I recommend it to any of you – just based on my experience.
Let me know down below what products help keep your skin clear! I would LOVE to know. As I mentioned above, I am willing to try pretty much anything so if you have a recommendation – please share!
My skin responds really well to Glycolic Acid, Retinol, and Benzoyl Peroxide! I don’t use all those treatments at the same time (esp since Benzoyl Peroxide and Retinol can work against each other). For spot treatments, I like the Clean & Clear Perea-Gel 10 (BP) or Differin (Retinoid). In terms of serums, the DE TLC Framboos is my go-to night treatment (glycolic), but I’ve been working DE’s A-Passioni (Retinoid cream) into my routine 1-2X a week.
