I am a BIG fan of drugstore mascaras. Mascaras are one of those cosmetic items that you really don’t ever need to buy high end because drugstore options are JUST as good! Today we are talking about the L’Oreal Makeup Lash Paradise Mascara! I 100% bought this mascara based on Tati Westbrook’s recommendation (she is my favorite beauty YouTuber)! She was obsessed with this mascara for the longest time so I decided that I needed to try it for myself!
This mascara retails for $9.99 which makes it slightly more expensive than other drugstore foundations but still half the price of any high end mascara.
The Packaging
The packaging and wands makes me thing that this mascara is supposed to be a dupe for the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. They have the same shiny soft pink color to the mascara tube and the same hourglass shape to the wand. I love that hourglass wand shape for a mascara because it really helps get close to the base of your lashes to lift them up.
The packaging is nice overall! It doesn’t feel cheap and looks pretty!
The Claims
This mascara has A LOT of claims! L’Oreal claims that using this mascara will give the following benefits:
- 200+ bristles catch every lash for a full fringe effect
- Smooth glide formula provides silky volume in one extra black coat
- Lashes are feathery soft to the touch
- Women agreed: 91% saw intense and volumized lashes and 87% saw more beautiful lashes
- +98% lengthening effect
- Voluptuous volume and length
- Soft wavy bristle brush
- More black pigments
My Review
I REALLY like this mascara! I think it does add a lot of volume and a little bit of length. I think if you are looking for volume then this is definitely the mascara for you. I personally prefer more length but I have still been enjoying this mascara. It lasts a long time and doesn’t flake and most of all, it is easy to take off! I think this is my top 5 favorite drugstore mascaras – Tati did not steer me wrong.

I have a lot of trouble with this mascara flaking at the one month mark on my eyelashes. That being said, my high-end favorites also do that, so it’s still a deal even if I end up feeling like I need to purchase once a month. (I like monsieur big quite a lot and I think it gives a similar effect on the lashes as well.)

Oh really? I haven’t experienced any flaking yet but that does usually happen to me when a mascara is about to go bad. I didn’t like Monsieur Big mascara… I felt like it was a little too clumpy. What other ones do you like? 🙂

I am struggling with flaking on almost every mascara I try about a month after I start using it. I liked the IT superhero, but that had the same problem. I tried and liked a sephora brand, but that started flaking. I used the wander beauty one, that one didn’t flake, but sadly, I also didn’t love the mascara! I guess I have yet to find my perfect mascara, I’ll keep trying. I do have a full sized unopened better than sex to try, and my daughter has really been rocking some of the essence mascaras, sh e looks great in them. So, we’ll have to see as I keep trying. Any suggestions would also be helpful!

Hm.. I’ve been thinking this over and have some thoughts! If you haven’t tried the Better Than Sex mascara, definitely give it a shot (since it is already in your collection). I haven’t had any issues with that mascara flaking so I am hoping you won’t either. It is a really nice lengthening mascara.
I have heard amazing things about the Essence mascaras, especially the lash princess ones. I have one sitting in my collection but it hasn’t been used yet so I can’t speak to how it performs. Has your daughter had any issues with it flaking?
One of the “wettest” mascaras that I have ever used is the Rimmel London Scandal-eyes mascara (in the orange tube) – the only thing is that the wand is HUGE so its kind of hard to use but I like the way it performs. I also like Maybelline’s mascaras (Colossal, Great Lash, Rocket). They should all last you more than a MONTH!

There are so many great mascaras out there nowadays—-and the drugstore brands have been crushing it in more recent years! Remember when Great Lash mascara used to be the go-to? There is so much choice now 🙂

YES, you’re so right! I still LOVE Great Lash – its actually so good! But yeah, I remember that was like 1 of 3 mascaras available.

Oh gosh! I feel as if i am the only one that absolutely hated this mascara haha. It clumped together and the formula was just weird and it didn’t make my eyelashes stay curled either and at the end of the day it just smudged and flaked off. Had to throw it away. Such a shame! I love L’Oreal’s mascaras!

HAHA – I have totally been there. When everyone else loves a product and it just doesn’t work for me. This mascara is definitely clumpy and not as lengthening as I usually like. (That is why I use two mascaras almost everyday). This is the only mascara I’ve tried from L’Oreal now that I am thinking about it. Which other ones do you like?

I haven’t tried the L’Oreal unlimited mascara – I feel like I’ve never even seen it in the store! I’ll need to check it out though if its a game changer!
