Hi Friends!
Welp, you guessed it! I chose the Drunk Elephant set for my Sephora birthday gift! I posted a blog post over a month ago, talking about the pros and cons and my overall thoughts of each of the birthday gift options. And then I asked YOU GUYS which one I should pick up. Most of the votes were actually for the Drunk Elephant set!
I didn’t know which one I wanted but I am so happy to have chosen the Drunk Elephant one. This is a really EXPENSIVE brand so trying out their products, for free, is really exciting! But also EXCITING, I went into a Sephora during my birthday Monday (February) and they actually also gave me the Kat Von D Birthday Gift so I will be writing a review on those items very soon as well!
Product Details
Anyway – jumping back into the review of the Drunk Elephant set. I first want to talk about the details of this set! This set includes two mini products:
- Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser (1 fl oz)
- Protini Polypeptide Cream (.5 fl oz)
As I already mentioned, Drunk Elephant is an extremely expensive skincare brand so I wanted to calculate how much this set is actually worth. The full size of the Jelly Cleanser retails for $32 and comes with 5 fl oz of product. Therefore the mini size has a value of $6.40. The full size Protini Polypeptide Cream retails for $68 and includes 1.69 fl oz. So that means, the mini in the birthday set has a value of $20!
So overall, this set is worth $26.40! That’s not too bad for it being completely free!
My Review
Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser
If you have followed me for a while, then you would know that I am completely OBSESSED with cleansers. I love trying new cleansers and seeing what the possibilities are for my skin. I was really excited to use this cleanser since it is from Drunk Elephant and overall, I was pretty impressed.
This cleanser is more lightweight than I initially expected. I thought it was going to be more of like a gel however it is pretty thin and clear. It feels really nice on the skin and most importantly my skin feels clean after using it. I haven’t noticed a difference in my skin but I still have been enjoying using it. I don’t have any plans to purchase the full size because I already have WAY too many cleansers.
Protini Polypeptide Cream
This moisturizer is REALLY nice!! It is so lightweight and soothing. It has this subtle cooling effect and overall just feels nice on the skin. I have been wearing this morning and night and really have been enjoying it. I think I even like it more than the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream because of how it feels on the skin.
Although I really like it though, I am not willing to spend $68 on a full size. You don’t need a lot to cover your whole face so I am sure the full size would last a really long time but STILL.. That’s $68!! I already have plenty of moisturizers that I need to work through so this one is not on my mind to purchase at all. If your skin is really sensitive, then you may really enjoy this moisturizer because it is so soothing.
My Final Thoughts
Of course – I am really happy with this set! It was free so it was just enjoyable to use and not really worry about getting my money’s worth. Both of these products are beautiful skin care items. I still think they are a little too expensive to jump into but on the other hand, I think it is important to invest in your skincare.
Both of these products would be great for anyone with sensitive skin. They are both lightweight and soothing.
I REALLY want to know what you are going to pick for your birthday gift from Sephora?! Also, if you have already tried these products, what are your thoughts?! I would LOVE to know!

I’d love to try the polypeptide protini! But I do tend to choke on the price as well…

I’ve been wanting to try out products from Drunk Elephant but the price really puts me off, I’ve been using Frank Body skin care products instead and I’m loving their products (Frank Body is so much cheaper as well). But I totally agree with you, skin care should be an investment and I’m hoping I’ll be able to pick something up later on from Drunk Elephant. This was a great post by the way!

You should check out the Drunk Elephant / Sephora birthday gift so you can try out the brand! I’ve never heard of Frank Body, where are they sold? If you do pick up anything from Drunk Elephant, I hope you like it! Thank you so much for commenting!
