HI Friends!
Happy Thursday!! Today we are talking about one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE foundations – the CoverGirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation! I initially received this foundation in an Influenster VoxBox and I ABSOLUTELY fell in love. I received this foundation at a time in my life when I really only had one foundation (maybe two at the most.) So I used it and abused it until it was all the way used up. THEN…. I missed it, so I bought two more. I got in a panic because I thought they were discontinued and wanted to stalk up.
This year, I am working to use up one of those foundations in my Project Pan. I have so many foundations and I definitely don’t need two of the same one! I know I already spoiled my thoughts on this foundation but let’s talk about why I love it so much!
Product Details
The Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation retails for $11.99 so it is a more expensive drugstore foundation but still pretty affordable (and worth it!). It comes with 30 mL / 1 fl oz. which is pretty standard for a foundation.
I have to say, the shade range is really disappointing. I didn’t realize how limited the range was until I was writing this post but there are only 7 shades available. I really hope they expand because that is unacceptable. I am in the shade Ivory / 705 which is the lightest shade.
The Packaging
I really like the packaging of this foundation! The bottle is a made of a thick clear glass. The project panner in me loves the see through packaging so I can see exactly where I am at! It also has a pump which is lovely! I will say that once you get to the bottom of the bottle, the pump does not push out everything. I ended up using a qtip to dig out more foundation.
Key Benefits
CoverGirl has a few claims when it comes to this foundation:
- Give your skin a luminous glow
- Oil free
- Minimizes the appearance of oily shine
- Lightweight formula
- Full coverage
This is a very lightweight formula and I think it does has a slight glow to the skin. Not anything that I would describe as luminous but it definitely isn’t a matte formula. I don’t have oily skin so I don’t know about it minimizing “the appearance of oily shine.”
Another benefit is that this foundation includes a broad spectrum SPF 20! They also claim that the formula includes vitamins and an antioxidant that boosts your skin to look healthy all day.
My Final Thoughts
So.. you guessed it, I LOVE this foundation. It blends beautifully on the skin and really makes my skin look healthy. It has a satin type of finish so it isn’t super dewy but it also isn’t matte either. I really like that it has a SPF in it just because it is something a little extra that you wouldn’t get from other foundations. It also wears beautifully throughout the day although it does start to wear off towards the end of the day. It doesn’t bother me though.
Plus this foundation SMELLS SO GOOD!! I literally am in love with the scent – it smells fresh and pretty. I don’t think it is fragranced but it just smells really nice.
My only frustration with this foundation, which I just realized is the shade range. The ivory shade happens to work perfectly for my shade but it is frustrating loving something so much and not even being able to share with all my friends. I know CoverGirl just transitioned to being completely cruelty-free which is an amazing accomplishment but obviously they still have some improvements to make.
I highly recommend this foundation! If we are focusing on only the formula and how it wears, it’s a 10/10! Not only one of my favorite drugstore foundation but one of my all time favorite foundations. I will definitely purchase over and over again!
Let me know down below what foundations you love?! Have you tried the Healthy Elixir Foundation? I would LOVE to know your thoughts!
Hard to believe – but I’ve only ever tried maybe two or three products from CG in all the years I’ve worn makeup lol! But this sounds like a foundation I’d enjoy…. I just picked up the Maybelline Superstay Foundation and I’m LOVING it because it is full coverage, but yet my skin still looks like skin.
Also, some of these drugstore foundations are ~REALLY~ out there with their prices… I had originally intended on picking up a foundation from Physican’s Formula or Neutrogena but couldn’t bring myself to spend $16-$17 on a drugstore foundation!

Oh, that is surprising because I feel like CoverGirl is a classic drugstore brand. Definitely one I used a lot when I was 13-16 when I couldn’t afford anything else. I have the Maybelline Superstay but haven’t tried it yet – I’ve heard so many good things. Its time to try use it!!
YESSS – I have noticed that as well. Physician’s Formula prices are definitely getting crazy. Their products are good but come on…
