Kat Von D Beauty: Lock-It Concealer Review!

Hi Friends!

Happy Monday! I love testing out new foundations and concealers – I honestly have way too many because I am always intrigued by how they will make my skin look. Today, we are talking about a little bit of a throw-back concealer, the Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer. I know a lot of people are hating on Kat Von D, but I just want to talk about the makeup!

This concealer has been out for awhile and it has actually has been re-packaged to a tube with a sponge tip applicator and I am not sure if the formula is the same! I have been using this concealer consistently for months and months so I thought it was time to share my review! I also recently added it to my #TEAMPROJECTPAN challenge to use up this year.

Product Details & Benefits

The Lock-It Concealer retailed for a whopping $25 which is really expensive. But it does come with .58 oz of product whereas the new Lock-It concealer only comes with .22 oz of product and is a little bit more expensive. I happened to pick up this concealer from Marshalls for only $5.99!

Kat Von D claims that this concealer has the following benefits:

  • 24-hour wear
  • Water resistant
  • Instant full coverage
  • Covers blemishes
  • Brightens under eyes and more

When this concealer initially launched, it only had 9 shades but now there are 21 shades which is a great shade range. I have the shade Light 16!

The Packaging

Not sure if this is a popular opinion, but I actually LOVE the packaging. Using a squeeze tube is so easy and you are actually able to get most of the product out. Whereas with a hard plastic tube, there will always be some product that you can’t get out.

The design on the tube has Kat Von D‘s gothic vibes with the black flowers on either side. There are hints of silver within the flowers and the tube is silver so the design is very cohesive. Its pretty simple but cute!

My Review

I have to admit – this concealer is really good! There are a couple of claims / benefits that I don’t necessary agree with but that doesn’t mean there are cons. For example, this concealer does not have a 24-hour wear but it still does last throughout the entire day and wears beautifully! I don’t need a concealer that lasts 24 hours!

It is a brightening and does add a good coverage to blemishes or uneven skin tone. I wouldn’t say it is an instant full coverage but it can be built up to a medium to full coverage.

Most importantly, the concealer is really creamy and easy to blend. I mainly use it under my eyes to brighten and then occasionally on a blemish just to add some additional coverage. I love the way it hydrates and feels on the skin, it just sinks in and looks like skin. It’s a really nice concealer and I do recommend it even if the packaging has changed!

Let me know down below what your favorite concealer is!? I have also been trying one from Makeup Revolution which I should be reviewing soon – so stay tuned!

  1. Oh I like the new re-design and hope they bring that to the UK, I agree with a squeezey tube being much easier to use and much more useful in getting all the product out. The Lock It concealer is definitely my favourite that I’ve tried so far. 😊

  2. Okay that packaging is super cute, and you got such a bargain!! I’ve never swatched it in person, the only time I’ve ever seen her products is in a Sephora in New York when I visited once last year, so living in the UK it’s impossible to actually physically see her products! Can’t wait for your post on the Revolution concealer, I love that one!

    • I love a good bargain!! I didn’t realize she wasn’t really available in the UK – I know KVD is exclusive to Sephora though. I love the Revolution concealer too!!
