Hi Friends!
Today I wanted to talk about the new VIB Program at Sephora. If you aren’t familiar, Sephora currently has loyalty program for their shoppers. Essentially the more you spend, the more you get back. There are still 3 different tiers which are Insider, VIB, and Rouge. The tiers are determined by how much you spend in a calendar year. So recently Sephora as re-vamped their Insider Program to make it even more appealing to customers. I think this was to compete with Ulta’s loyalty program a bit since a lot of people like Ulta’s better.
Anyway, I am talking about all of the rewards or benefits of the loyalty program today. I just want to focus on the main differences in the program.
Points
So the first that that has changed is how you rack up points. Previously, for every $1 that you spent, you would get 1 point. Occasionally, they would run double or even triple point promotions but more the most part it was just 1:1 and that was for EVERYONE despite what tier you were.
For Insiders, it is still a 1:1 ratio still (for every $1 spent, you get 1 point). VIB members will now receive 1.25 points and Rouge members receive 1.5 points for every $1 spent. This is definitely a small bonus for the higher tiers, just so they can get more points and redeem more gifts. I don’t think the points are something that you would push to work for a higher tier for but this is a nice bonus if you are already VIB or Rouge.
Birthday Gifts
Each year for your birthday, Sephora will give you a free birthday gift! For example, this year I received the GlamGlow gift set! All you have to do is be a beauty insider and make a single purchase in order to redeem. I LOVE this program because it makes me feel like Sephora cares about me and its just an extra treat around your birthday time that makes you feel good.
With the re-vamped program, if you are a VIB and Rouge member you can either redeem the birthday gift or receive 250 points. I guess this is good if you want to build up your points and save for a big reward. I am curious what I will choose next year!
Flash 2-Day Shipping
So this reward has actually not “improved” at all. With the old program, Insiders and VIB members could opt in to pay a $10 one time fee to receive free 2-day shipping for the entire year. Rouge members would automatically receive 2-day shipping without the $10 fee.
Now, the 2-day shipping subscription is $15 each year for Beauty Insiders and VIB members and Rouge still get this option for free. Although, this really hasn’t improved for the 2 lower tiers, I do understand rewarding your Rouge members / adding more value to that tier.
Rewards Bazaar
The Rewards Bazaar is where Sephora hosts the trial size products and experiences that you can redeem your points for. They always release new rewards on Tuesdays and Thursday. Previously, they had rewards ranging from 100 points to upwards of 50K points. Primarly, these rewards would be trial size products and then occasionally they would have a brand sponsor that would contribute more “swag” time items (shirts, bags, mugs, etc.) They would also occasionally get opportunities for insider members to have a “one-of-a-kind experiences” which could include brand trips and travelling to different places.
So all of those things are still available but they are also adding the opportunity for VIB and Rouge members to redeem points for FULL SIZE products. I really can’t wait to see what they are going to be adding to the Rewards Bazaar for this.
They also adding a reward solely for Rouge members that will allow you to redeem 2,500 points for a $100 gift card. That is just amazing! You can buy whatever you want with a $100 gift card as long as you use it within 90 days – that’s an amazing upgrade!
Well that is it for me today! These were the main changes that I wanted to share with all of you as well as my thoughts on them. I am excited to see how these benefits work out for me! I think Sephora has made some definite improvements. What I would have liked to see was a higher percentage off for Rouge members during the VIB sales but maybe they will get there next year!
Let me know what your thoughts are on these rewards! Are you more into the Sephora or Ulta loyalty program? I would love to know below!
Unfortunately the ability to redeem points for full-sized products and $100 GC’s might not be all that it seems. In the fine print it states: Limited quantities. This leads me to believe that they will only release 50-100 at a time like their other larger reward items, which sell out in seconds. The ability to get one of these seems next to impossible, when in competition with thousands to millions of other customers. Overall, I was so excited when I first heard about these changes, but now I am totally disappointed! But we will just have to see what happens when they actually start offering the full size items and GCs.

Definitely – those rewards can be impossible to redeem but I definitely still thick it is an improvement if SOMEONE can get it. I think its definitely a step in the right direction, especially for ROUGE members.

It certainly is a step in the right direction! Just not as big of a step as I had initially hoped ☺️

That’s cool they are making it better! I almost never shop at Sephora anymore…I’m an Ulta girl! But sometimes Sephora has stuff I want that Ulta doesn’t

Haha, thats how I feel about Ulta. I mostly shop at Sephora but then Ulta will have something exclusive so I go over there. Honestly, I love both stores though.

I think I tend to go for Ulta because I like to look at drugstore makeup too…like Wet n Wild and ELF 🙂

True – I definitely go to Ulta when I am looking for one of those brands. It just makes sense with their rewards program vs. going to an actual drugstore or target. I love Wet N Wild and ELF!
